Connection: A Tranquil and Stylish Apartment Interior Design

Creating a Harmonious Space for Family Living

The Connection apartment interior design by Cheng Hsuan Huang is a stunning example of how color, materials, and thoughtful planning can create a tranquil and stylish living space. With a focus on safety, environment, and family, this design showcases the beauty of simplicity and elegance.

The inspiration for the Connection design came from the desire to create a soft and moist visual experience while ensuring safety and environmental consciousness. Cheng Hsuan Huang avoided bright colors and sharp angles, opting for a more spacious and child-friendly public area. The spatial layout allows for multiple uses, catering to the needs of the family. The combination of white tiles and wood veneers creates a gentle and pleasing aesthetic.

What sets the Connection design apart is its clear and elegant style, which appears simple and bright without excessive decoration. The bedrooms and living room complement each other, creating a gender-neutral and simple space. By removing edges and corners from the furniture, the sense of space is enhanced, providing assurance and peace.

The realization of the Connection design involved careful selection of materials and attention to detail. The furniture is presented in one color, matching with light-colored wood veneers. The white cabinets divide the contour, allowing each element to retain its independence. The unique curved ceiling in the bedroom conceals beams and columns, adding a touch of sophistication. Additionally, the use of Lotos plaster, an environmentally friendly material made from recycled sludge, adds a distinctive element to the room. Point lights are strategically placed to create varying levels of luminosity, adding depth and visual interest.

The Connection apartment spans 150 m2 and features a foyer, living room, reading room, master bedroom, guest bedroom, additional bedroom, three bathrooms, dining room, and kitchen. The division of ground materials separates the different spatial functions between public and private areas. The rotating TV wall breaks tradition, enhancing spatial layering and fluidity. The large windows invite natural light, creating a sense of connection with the outside world.

The Connection design project began in February 2018 and was completed in December 2018 in Taichung City, Taiwan. Throughout the project, the designer focused on using eco-friendly materials that comply with national standards for healthy green building. The wood veneer paint chosen for its low toxicity and minimal health risks reflects the designer's commitment to creating a safe and healthy living environment. The use of Lotos plaster addresses the issue of reservoir silting in Taiwan, providing a sustainable and innovative solution.

The Connection design presented several challenges, including the unique curved ceiling structure and the integration of Lotos plaster. However, the efforts paid off, resulting in a gentle and comfortable interior. Lighting played a crucial role in the design, with point lights creating dynamic and changing levels of luminosity. The simplicity of the furniture allows its characteristics to shine, providing a tranquil and comfortable space.

The Connection design emphasizes the importance of natural light and the use of warm timber to create a welcoming and stress-free environment. The spatial layout caters to the needs of the family, while the opening positions establish cozy visual links. Cheng Hsuan Huang's design showcases the beauty of simplicity and elegance, creating a harmonious space for family living.
